Birds of Conflict

This ongoing series explores various political, environmental and conservation issues, both past and present. I noticed that as I produce paintings about painful personal experiences (Inner Turmoil series), I would then paint one of these outer world conflicts. For a while I wasn’t sure why this was happening, why I seemed to be jumping from internal dialogues to external collective issues. I knew both the internal and external paintings were in dialogue with each other, I just didn’t understand how or why. As I dove deeper into my path of esoteric alchemy, as I began to heal little parts of myself, only THEN was I able to understand the dialogue between these two bodies of work (Inner Turmoil series and this Birds of Conflict series). I have realized that I had been stuck in the first stage of esoteric alchemy for years confronting my deepest darkest shadows. Because I had been facing my own inner war, the external world mirrored that by presenting to me the darkness of humanity.
